Just last week, Google announced a major update to Google Trends. They have finally done it! Learn more here.
As it appears, Google Trends is now going to feed through data in real-time with support from Github. This is great news for all search marketers, as we can now monitor data on a minute-by-minute basis, giving us better insight on content.

You can now explore minute-by-minute, real-time data behind the more than 100 billion searches that take place on Google every month, getting deeper into the topics you care about.” It shows you the spikes by minute and will capture the story behind those spikes as well.

You’ll find a ranked, real-time list of trending stories that are gaining traction across Google.” With that, you will now also see “trends from YouTube and Google News and combine them to better understand what topics and stories are trending across the web right now.
